I Am That Girl By Eliza Roesler
I’m the girl who does something even when people stand in her way. I wonder why I forget things. I am not perfect. I see the divisions of the world. I want to help. I am that girl. I’m the girl who everyone calls oblivious. I pretend I’m not self-conscious. I feel like my childhood is fading like an old picture. I worry I’m missing out on something. I cry myself to sleep when there’s no one to talk to. I am that girl. I’m the girl that will ask questions at the worst times. I don’t understand the tornado that is life. I say I’m sorry. I dream of a future that’s as dull as a piercing blade. I try not to let words hurt me. I hope I make a difference. I am that girl. I am the girl who likes to stand in the rain when everyone else goes inside. I am the girl who doesn’t stop talking. I am the girl who doesn’t like hugs, but still needs them. I am the girl who wants to be heard. I am today, tomorrow, and next week. I am the meaning behind my words. I am that girl. "I dream of a future that's as dull as a piercing blade" Childhood by Eliza Roesler
It's like an old movie In your brain to play back as you like You only remember certain parts Like when you burnt the pop tarts Or when you first learned to ride a bike It's like a distant dream One you can never go back to No matter how hard you try It's a never ending goodbye To all the things you used to do It's like a one way trip And along the way you learn new things And become who you are and will be But you don't know until you see A bird won't know if they can fly until they use their wings Childhood is one's true innocence shone It's hard to believe you were there When you are here now and wonder where Half of your life has gone But it's why life is amazing and new "A bird won't know it can fly until they use their wings" |
Today We Live In a World By Eliza Roesler
Today we live in a world Where weapons are more powerful than words Where wars are won by the highest body count Where sometimes the only way home is in a body bag And where a father doesn’t get to see his daughter grow up because he can’t come home yet At least I know the cause was worth it Today we live in a world Where terrorism still strikes like a sly venomous snake Where good and evil mix like sprite and grenadine Where picking a president is like the Oscar ceremony And where a mother of 2 has done more in a year than our president has in eight At least her children are more promising than his legacy will ever be Today we live in an imperfect world that is forever changing and that will never be perfect or the same but the real concern is: what’s next? "Today we live in a world... Where good and evil mix like Sprite and Grenadine" Phillippines By Eliza Roesler
Always a tropical invitation The perfect mist wraps its arms around you The taste of the salty ocean breeze While eating a pork bun I bury my feet in the summer sand While absorbing the cotton candy sky Where there’s poverty there’s still laughter and it’s contagious Happiness is a wildfire The cold ice cream at the tip of my tongue As I watch the waves slowly streak the beach Like watercolors on a canvas And as I listen to nature at its finest I know this is paradise "As I watch the waves slowly streak the beach like watercolors on a canvas" Betrayal
Sometimes it's so scary It makes you feel so betrayed When someone who was your "best friend" Throws everything you had away Every word cuts like a knife They don't even realize what they're saying Sometimes you even question your life Taking to mind all that they have been saying Word is spread among your friends like a wildfire And there you stand unaware taking no part About what they are saying about you being stupid or a liar And you don't even realize it's tearing you apart Just know they haven't won The mean people in the world can't break down every wall All of their momentum and hate will be gone And you will be there to watch them fall "And you don't even realize it's tearing you apart" |
